Middle School Takes the Lead
Middle School’s student leadership group meets twice a month to plan activities and form committees. Students have lunch together and discuss ideas that support the Middle School. Committees are formed and meet additionally to achieve their goals.
Mock(ing) Trial
Imagine you are Odysseus just trying to get home by any means necessary, or you are a blinded one-eyed Cyclops just trying to get his sheep back, and you are having a dispute over who’s at fault after a messy altercation in a cave on a remote island. That was the scene in Erin Berg’s Grade 9 English class this week as judge and jury sought to find the truth and let justice be served. Using a mock trial to bring home the attributes of epic heroes and Ancient Greek values in the Odyssey, students had to flex their argumentative muscles to pull off a case where anyone could be found guilty of bad behavior.
Will It Explode?
Grade 6 science students built models of volcanoes to understand how igneous rocks are formed. Check out the excitement as they used vinegar and baking soda to make their volcanoes erupt!
One of Our Oldest Traditions, Pageant!
About the Lower School Pageant (est. 1934): The entire Harley community delights in our annual Pageant, a colorful, original musical written by Grade 4 and starring every child in the Lower School. The theme changes each year but always focuses on caring, sharing, and community. It is considered Lower School’s gift to the whole school. This year’s theme was “Adventures in Storytelling.”
Pictured: The Thursday performance for MS/US, faculty and staff. One of my favorite moments is always the Grade 12 students singing and doing all the hand motions they learned so long ago along to “…love is something when you give it away, give it away..”.
