This week (in photos) at Harley:
Devorah Heitner visits with Upper School Students
Screenwise: Raising Digital Natives author and researcher Devorah Heitner worked with our faculty and students while she was here. Pictured: The Multimedia Journalism class discussing issues surrounding privacy, social media, and reputation.
Modified Sports Take to the Field
Grades 7 & 8 can participate in HAC Athletics modified sports program. This is a great opportunity to learn physical skills as well as what it means to be a good teammate. Go Wolves!
One Fish, Two Fish
Grade 2 has been reading about fish, studying how fish breathe underwater, catching crayfish in the creek, adding fish, subtracting fish, and on Wednesday they drew and painted real fish; a delightful and aromatic undertaking for all. Thursday, Mrs. Sharman and Mr. Cinquino piled class into cars and headed out to the fish hatchery.
Middle School Outdoor Education
Grades 6-8 participate in activities based around outdoor education and community building to start the year.
Grade 6: A day of ropes courses, team-building, and more at YMCA Camp Arrowhead.
Grade 7: Four days and three nights at the New York YMCA Camp, Greenkill Outdoor
Education Center located in Huguenot, NY.
Grade 8: Four days and three nights in the Adirondack Mountains at camp Pok-O- MacCready.
Pictured: Grade 7 climbers (and danglers) in action.
Colleges Want Our Students
The hit parade of college visits has begun, and our Upper School students are (wisely) taking advantage of the onsite opprtunity. By the end of the year, we’ll have roughly 80 schools sharing information and answering questions in small group settings.
Upper School Bonds at Aerial Adventures in Bristol
Ziplines, tight rope walks, ladders & bridges challenge our oldest students as they work together in multi-grade groups. The goal? Forging relationships with students across grades (and fun, of course).
Fantastic! Love these pictures and the opportunities our students have to bond, learn team work skills, leadership and confidence –in beautiful outdoor settings – to help start off a great academic year. Thank you faculty and Harley school leaders for making these types of experiences available to our kids. We know it takes extra time and effort, and we appreciate it!
