Opening Night Is Upon Us

Our Middle School presents “Shrek Jr.” Friday and Saturday evening at 7pm.

Part romance and part twisted fairy tale, Shrek JR. is an irreverently fun show with a powerful message for the whole family.

Tickets may be ordered online or purchased at the door. Online ticketing here.

Service with a Smile

Grades 3 and 4 study French, while beginning to read and write and learn authentically about another culture. This culminates in Café Français where Grade 4 students run a breakfast café for the entire Lower School (and parents), conducting transactions in French while serving croissants with a smile. At Lower School assembly this week they impressed everyone by putting on their server aprons as quickly as the audience could say, “Un, deux, trois!”

Pasta for Everyone!

From Lisa Barker, our food and farm educator:

Gino Ruggiero and his wife Alison, Harley parents and owners of Restaurant Fiorella, were guest chefs for the Upper School Culinary Arts class. They taught students how to make fresh pasta from scratch using recipes from their restaurant.

Gino also did a presentation for Primary 2 so they could see how the dough is made and how the pasta maker works.

After he left, I used his pasta maker and the leftover dough to also make pasta with my Middle School flex time class. So, one way or another, every division was in on the pasta fun!

Middle School: Pi Is Coming

Each year on March 14th (in other words, 3/14!), Grade 6 students celebrate Pi Day. This event originated over 20 years ago because5/6 math teacher Lee Allen thought it would be fun for the kids to learn about circles in a way that’s different from their daily routine. Learn more about Pi Day here in a blog post written by Lee.

The learning is already beginning, as evidenced in this photo captured by Connie Moore, 5/6 English faculty member.
