Mrs. Hoffman is the new Upper School Counselor at Harley. She has occupied this position since January of 2021. She teaches ASL as an independent study and prior to her arrival at Harley, she taught Spanish as well as being a counselor. She has previous experience teaching in a foreign language and used to work at a charter school. She was drawn here by everything that Harley brings to the faculty and staff, as well as the community. She was pleasantly surprised by the glass courses, the Microfarm, and how welcoming and warm everyone has been. Drawn to the field by her experience of never having a counselor, as it wasn’t something that her school did growing up, she advocates for mental health support in schools. During her time as a teacher, she realized she wanted to be there for her students. She wanted to be a school counselor so that she could be someone students felt comfortable coming to with their problems or concerns.

Her personal hobbies include taking walks, going to animal shelters/spending time with animals, and bringing food to people in shelters, specifically during the wintertime when more people are in need. She enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, dancing, and listening to music. Mrs. Hoffman truly cares about what she does, and is very honest and caring towards her students. She does her best to prove to the students that they can trust her whenever they come to her office and that they can count on her support and not be afraid of getting in trouble when they speak to her. Everything at Harley has been new and interesting to her! The structure here is quite different from her prior school. She really enjoys that it truly feels like a family and that everybody is supportive of each other. She knows that she can count on her coworkers or even her supervisor, which has made working here even more special. Mrs. Hoffman is a wonderful resource and an asset to the school. She can be found in her office between Mrs. Fines’ room and the strings room and can be contacted through email or phone number (by calling the school and asking to use her extension).
